Since I’ve been offering more difficult tutorials lately (forgive me …), I will give a tutorial that is easier, so that beginners in Adobe Photoshop don’t get discouraged.  Enjoy this easier tutorial. The next one I post might be more complicated…

This time I will teach you how to change a background color in 10 seconds or less by using Adobe Photoshop. In this example, I’ll show you how I changed the background color of the image on the left, which is dominated by orange, into the image on the right, dominated by a yellowish green color. It is done by using the Color Balance (Ctrl + B).

Begin by downloading your photo files into your Photoshop, and then press Ctrl + B to open Color Balance menu. Next, change the value from the Color Levels to -100, 100, -50. You can replace the value by typing in the box provided, or by dragging the color balance in the middle to the left or right. Whichever input you use, the result should be as shown below:

Easy right? I’m sure you can do it in a short time.  Practice makes perfect. This effect creates very interesting abstract images, and can be fun in realistic images as well. Try changing the color of the sky in your photo from blue to green. : D

Description:

1. Shadows: The darker the image (low brightness)
2. Midtones: The medium in the picture (medium brightness)
3. Highlights: Part of the picture (high brightness)

You can try other colors by dragging toward the color you like, and change the mode to the highlights or shadows. Do not forget to check Preserve Luminosity and Preview.
